Minerva Daybed by Hvidt&Mølgaard, Denmark 1950's

An early production of the renowned "Minerva" Daybed Model FD417 by Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard Nielsen, produced in Denmark for France&Daverkosen.
Marked with the early black "FD" maker's mark (France & Daverkosen) for furniture produced 1957 or earlier, before the company changed its name in 1957 to "France & Son" thus adapting their maker's marks for subsequent furniture production.

The beautiful solid teak timber has an appealing deep brown-reddish tone and been carefully cleaned and restored with nourishing all-natural oils to deepen the fine original patina. We paired this exquisite original '50s vintage daybed with our authentic and luxurious Horsehair Mattress "Sen" in high quality, sustainably produced Swiss upholstery fabric woven from 100% natural fibres in denim-blue.
Comes with one all-natural, 100% wool-filled pillow size 31cm x 56cm in same fabric.​​

Remarkable antique Empire style gilded scroll arm window bench with beautifully carved winged eagle supports on downswept legs with feathered claw feet.
This extraordinary piece features a handcrafted camouflage-patterned cover assembled with finest handpicked leathers and natural/ organic textiles in warm colours and tactile textures.
To keep the authenticity and warmth of this antique piece, the frame has only been cleaned, the signs of the times still visible on purpose, one eagle head is fully intact / three eagle heads partially intact. The seat is newly re-upholstered in all natural materials, armrests carry still the authentic horsehair filling and traditional hand-stitched rolls.

The making of this piece dates back to the year 1966 with the date stamped on the frame.
